MEETING WITH FELA DUROTOYE 2

Fela durotoye gave a statistic count of the previous election which I verified. In the 2015 election, INEC claimed that 68 million voters card were collected to be used to vote, 20 million vote was counted, in other words 40 million did not vote at all, and at that time Nigeria had over 96 million citizens that were above 18 years of age.

This shows how little Nigerian youths actually participate in politics, and we expect the nation to change?, until we take a stand and actually start participating, this country will not be able to leave the dark age it currently resides in.

On the issue of the other parties trying to recruit him to their ranks, he said,

“I haven’t received any call whatsoever from the top people in charge of this country, and even if I did, my answer would remain the same, no, anyway I have a party I already stand for, no use joining another”

Just to pique your interest, did u know that during the primaries of the PDP and APC in Nigeria, the party members can’t vote to decide who they place as candidates?, apparently the party provides the candidates and then you have to choose from the above given!, and we call this a democracy?, more like monarch system of government. In other words,

These parties have given us our current Nigeria.

A question was asked also, since it was news, sometimes last week, that fela durotoye had teamed up with a few other young aspirants and they had a meeting. He actually confirmed it saying more than 16 of the new aspirants had joined together to face the current leaders (more like looters).

Speaking more on the matter, he said they had created an initiative known as PACT (Political Aspirants Coming Together). With this they hope to consolidate their powers and bring down the current power holders.

Also the Biafra referendum was talked upon, he said

“This was caused by leadership failure, marginalization of those in the south east and south south, therefore I hope to bring the easterners fully into the system, make them feel proud of being a Nigerian”

As to how he would do this, he didn’t elaborate, however we can hope that it works, if in the eventuality that he enters office though.

Lastly he was asked what his definition of a leader is, or what he thinks leadership is,

“Leadership is not a position of authority, neither is it a title or office, you don’t need those to be a leader. Leadership is the ability to influence and inspire others to solve problems and deliver desired results that make things, people and places better”

Do I see potential in him?, yes, I do, however history has taught us that great people become infatuated with power, Alexander the great, Genghis Khan, sun tzu, all these were notable personalities. We can only hope that the spirit he possesses to transform this country from the abyss it has been placed in will stay true to the end.

Mopenhouse.
